A plain concrete slab in Saratoga Springs, NY typically costs $8 to $14 per square foot installed, which puts a 20 by 24 garage floor around $4,000 to $6,700 and a 10 by 12 shed pad under $1,700. Driveways and anything that needs a thicker pour, more reinforcement or a lot of excavation land toward the top of that range. These are typical Capital District numbers, not a quote. Every lot is different.
What is included in the price
Our flatwork estimates cover excavation, hauling spoils, a compacted stone base, forms, reinforcement, the concrete itself, finishing, control joints and cleanup. If a number you get elsewhere is much lower, ask what was left out. Base prep is the usual answer, and it is the part you cannot see once the slab is poured.
What pushes the cost up
- Thickness. Driveways and garage floors get 5 to 6 inches instead of 4.
- Access. A backyard pad in Wilton or Ballston Spa that a truck cannot reach means wheelbarrows or a pump.
- Grade. Sloped lots need more excavation or a retaining edge.
- Finish. Broom finish is standard. Exposed aggregate, color or a stamped border adds to it.
- Demo. Breaking out and hauling an old slab is its own line item.
What does not change the price much
Square footage past a certain point. Once the crew and the truck are on site, a 300 square foot pad and a 400 square foot pad are not far apart in total cost. If you are on the fence about going bigger, now is the cheap time to do it.
When to book
Pour season in the Capital District runs roughly April through November. Spring fills up first. A quote in winter gets you an early slot and a firm number before prices move.
